Hi, I’m Alexandra (Ali) Pattillo.

I am a freelance journalist covering health and science. I’ve written 500+ articles to date for publications including National Geographic, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Scientific American, The Guardian, BBC, Outside, The Daily Beast, CNN, Inverse, and Mind Body Green.

Previously, I was a staff writer on the Mind + Body team at Inverse. I co-produced Inverse’s flagship science podcast, The Abstract, and cowrote Inverse’s behavioral science newsletter, Strategy. Before that, I reported on the health desk at CNN and helped produce docuseries for chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2017 where I studied geography, environmental studies and global health. I graduated from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 2019.
